Working on Art Gone Wild

IMG_3984

Working as fast and as hard as I can to finish my pieces for the Art Gone Wild show at Zoo Atlanta! Looks like I will have 4 when it is all said and done!

Some Illustrations

I have been so busy at work, but definitely trying to keep squeezing in some illustrations in the art journal. Here is my Vanessa (my cat), a quick self-portrait, and a sketch of my friend Mel in costume.

My take on ‘Love’ by Alexander Milov

No picture seems to capture the feeling of this 4’x5’ painting of Alexander Milov’s “Love” sculpture. The colors are so intense, the Inner Children and the cage-like adult figures are practically sculpted in the paint. What a lovely adventure it was to paint this! And I feel like I don’t work in oil paint as much as I’d love to. The drying time is always an inhibitor for commissions, but the owner of the company that requested this piece didn’t mind waiting patiently. Please enjoy!

House Portrait

I suppose all of these illustrations around the city of Columbus inspired this commission! This was a gift so I had to hold off until after the family reunion this was done for.

Art Gone Wild Final Pieces

I wanted to share with you guys the final pieces – both framed and unframed – from this month’s event at Zoo Atlanta. What an awesome experience this was! I miss going to the zoo every morning to paint.

Art Gone Wild @ Zoo Atlanta

The Art Gone Wild Fundraiser took place over the weekend kicking off with an art show on Friday night, and a two day sale over the weekend. It was such a joy to be a part of this event, and I can’t wait for next year as I hope to be selected as an artist for Zoo Atlanta again!

Art Gone Wild Paint Out Week

I had a fantastic week meeting artists and animals alike as I started my collection for the show next weekend! I hope you enjoy these paintings and sketches. I will be sharing the framed pieces soon!

Coming Soon: The 6th Doctor Bunny

I joined a cosplay group for the Bunny Hutch at Dragon Con. We are attempting to reimagine all the doctors and various other villains, companions, and even props as bunnies. So this is my original illustrated idea! Wish me luck! Colin Baker has a wild coat!

Which then inspired some of the other members to ask me to sketch them some ideas to turn into cosplays. Here are a few of my illustrated fashion design ideas:

Last Minute Superhero!

I was able to pull together a quick costume with fun props and makeup in the few hours before the Markster Con Superhero Pub Crawl where I was a registration volunteer. I enjoyed wearing this so much I might even bring it to Momocon!

Reimagine 13th Street Celebration

Last Thursday I participated in the Reimagine 13th Street event with several other artists, vendors, and food trucks. This event is “to help residents “reimagine” what the corridor could look like with fewer, slower traffic lanes, on-street parking and revived businesses along the route.” (Read more here).

In addition to setting up some artwork and jewelry to sell, I also helped Midtown Columbus prepare for the celebration by painting the windows of the mostly empty center to give people an idea of what could be there.
