Art Gone Wild 2019 Paint Out Week
I’ve been selected for a third year for Zoo Atlanta’s Art Gone Wild fundraising art show! Paint out week was lovely, despite the rain – and great reunion seeing all of my AGW artist friends. The new rhinoceros hornbills, Bill and Nancy, were a hit with everyone! And Ros, my favorite king vulture, put on a great show for me. She will definitely be getting her own canvas this year. Here are some of my illustrations that have already gone to new homes during the week. Stay tuned for progress on the final pieces!
Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors
I was so fortunate to get to experience Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors exhibit at the High Museum on a preview night. There were fewer people in the gallery last night and I felt I got to truly immerse myself into her Kusama’s colorful world! Here are a few shots from the exhibit. I highly recommend you go to this – photos do NOT do it justice!
Art Gone Wild 2018 Final Pieces
I had a goal to paint five portraits, but in the end (with my busy work schedule), I only had time for four canvases. For a fun personal challenge, I went with an all bird theme, and I must say that my first time painting birds has me absolutley in love with the creatures. I had so much fun getting to know them and their unique behaviors and personalities! I’m excited to share my pieces for my second year as an Art Gone Wild artist for Zoo Atlanta!

Fitz, the wreathed hornbill

Gumby, the southern ground hornbill

Cecil, the 39-year-old (!) double wattled cassowary
Art Gone Wild @ Zoo Atlanta
The Art Gone Wild Fundraiser took place over the weekend kicking off with an art show on Friday night, and a two day sale over the weekend. It was such a joy to be a part of this event, and I can’t wait for next year as I hope to be selected as an artist for Zoo Atlanta again!
