Progress on my 6th Doctor Bunny
It’s been a whirlwind of activity to complete this whimsical cosplay before Dragon Con! This project was a lot of work and used many different skills.
As you know, I am a big fan of upcycling so I picked up shirts to disassemble, rearrange, and stitch into Colin Baker’s colorful jacket. I used a corset from another cosplay. I dyed some shorts from Target and used a fabric pen to add the stripes. I sculpted and painted the iconic cat brooch myself. I used leftover scraps from the shirt to make the matching ears. My friend Kelly styled a wig for me, which is going to look way more amazing than the one I had. I am so excited to unveil this at Dragon Con! Stay tuned!
Coming Soon: The 6th Doctor Bunny
I joined a cosplay group for the Bunny Hutch at Dragon Con. We are attempting to reimagine all the doctors and various other villains, companions, and even props as bunnies. So this is my original illustrated idea! Wish me luck! Colin Baker has a wild coat!
Which then inspired some of the other members to ask me to sketch them some ideas to turn into cosplays. Here are a few of my illustrated fashion design ideas:
K9 Poodle Skirt
Since I am totally obsessed with Doctor Who, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to make this skirt happen. A group of us were planning on going to see Grease at the Springer Opera House and we turned it into a costumed event. I painted K9 on my skirt. Get it?! Ahhh I can’t stop laughing at this!
Dragon Con is Coming!
Here is my lineup, I thought it would be fun to do a “before and after, so I will take some pictures and remake this next week!
I am not 100% sure on days/times yet, but tentatively I am looking at Steampunk Bell Thursday day and changing into my Marriott Picasso dress for Revenge of the Carpet and Nerdy New Year Thursday night. Friday I will be Queen of Hearts all day, and maybe change to Princess Vader that night if I need a corset break. Saturday morning I will be back in the Marriot Picasso dress for the parade and photo shoot, and then spend the evening in the Ecto-1. Sunday I will be in the Memorial TARDIS. I will probably not do any costumes on Monday, but if I do it will be something super comfy. Maybe I will bring Red from OUAT as a back up.
I am almost packed, I just need to sew a clasp onto the TARDIS gown, finish installing the shelf on my Ecto-1 for the music, and make a repair to Belle’s sleeve. I wanted to do a makeup costest for the Queen, but maybe I will just wing it.
I can’t wait to see all of the amazing costumes and events and surprises Dragon Con has in store for 2016!
